SI #2 Finished!
I decided to color the comic on the door with just brown colors because of the weird position of the door knob. I suppose it works because it doesn’t distract too much from the guy kicking the door open. Though I still find myself looking at the first picture of the comic before looking at the guy which is interesting. Next I will work on the coffee mug featuring more interaction between the characters. Then I will head towards the climax of the story be introducing the city and kiwis! Materials: pencil, sharpie, colored pencils Process: made an outline with pencil, then went over with sharpie, then colored everything Ideas: my idea was to present an angry dude breaking through a door with a comic on the door to explain why he is angry. I colored the comic brown to hopefully make the door knob look better. I used lots of dots for shading and that ended up looking ok
Good progress shots of 3 or more.
ReplyDeleteThe drawing can be sharpened and notes can be added to really be able to use as an SI piece by itself. This will help your workload lessen because you won't need as many finished pieces. But only if you are really clear about your idea, medium, and exactly what you are trying to do.
Your comment that it is "just for fun" is not enough, we need art-speak.
Next time add your MPI even with the process shot, on the actual art. Either use Markup on your phone with text or do it in your sketchbook small, like the one you have, with words describing your intent. You can even use a highlighter.
Maybe refer to your inspiration artist, color choices for the palette, intention (what is it you want the viewer to feel: whimsy? surprise? are the comics alive on inanimate objects? etc.
Remember to use stronger colors going forward, maybe employ the markers to speed up your process, and vary your line quality in the end.
Good job Blaise :) I look forward to seeing the finished piece!
